- Abstract:On Dec. 27th 2004, a giant flare was observed by several satellites,
coming from the Soft Gamma-ray Repeater 1806-20. This event was so
powerful that all the detectors saturated. The energy released was
estimated to be one hundred times larger than the other two giant
flares observed up to now. The high-energy (~TeV) gammas rays
produced in the burst would produce muon which can be observed in
under-ground detectors. We discuss here the limits that the
AMANDA detector, in the South Pole, can set to the flux of high-energy
gammas produced in this burst.
