This is an opportunity for schools and other groups of all age levels to talk to scientist living and working at the South Pole. The IceCube project has people working at the South Pole year round. During the busy summer months of November to February IceCube has as many as 50 people working on the ongoing construction of IceCube, and during the isolated winter months IceCube has 3 hardy Winter-Overs operating the detector.
Having a school class conduct a phone interview with people located at the South Pole is the perfect way to complete a unit on Antarctica. The students will be able to ask questions about the things they have learned, and maybe resolve any unanswered questions. Our staff have very broad experiences in many aspects of Antarctica, and we can supplement the experience of the people "on ice" with experts who have worked in Antarctica in the past.

Groups from all over the world are welcome to send in requests to participate. We can not accommodate requests from individuals but we welcome requests from teachers, and group leaders (such as Scouts, Guides, or Outward Bound). At present we plan about 2 interviews a month. We will attempt to do interviews at times of day which are convenient for groups in the USA and also for groups elsewhere in the world. Unfortunately we will not be able to meet all requests and we appreciate your understanding in this regard.
